Abstract:

Purpose. Formation of an optimal set of socio-economic indicators to determine the integral index of rural territories development in the context of the modern theory of regional development.

Methodology. Comparative study, mathematical modeling, system and complex approaches.

Findings. We developed analytical-computation model for determining the integral index of rural territories development. We classified basic socio-economic indicators included into the index and analyzed their impact on the socio-economic development of rural areas.

We justified the method of the optimal system of indicators formation serving the base for calculation of the integral index of rural territories development and determination of main principles for correlation with the existing theoretical-practical techniques.

Originality. We introduced the new socio-economic indicator of regional development, the integral index rural territories development. It allows us to determine the actual state of the human, environmental, social and economic potential of a region more precisely.

Practical value. The method of determination of the integral index rural territories development of may allow better control over the state of the basic life-sustaining natural systems and accelerate the socio-economic development of rural areas within the context of balanced exploitation of natural resources.
