Abstract:

PurposeStudy of miners working conditions, and aerodynamic situation in manganese mines; determination of the basic centers of dust formation during transportation and extraction of manganese ore. And the dust release intensity comparison in the stopes with different kinds of ores.

Methodology. For in-the-field definition of the dust release intensity in airless end the following method was used. Immediately prior to the experiment an hour long intensive ventilation of the tunnel had been held; air dust content was reduced to the background value of 0.4; and then the booster fan was switched off. On the roadway floor in the zone of operation of the combine, 20 shut-off platforms with preliminarily tared filters were installed, one every 0.75 м, and the dust fall on them during the working shift.

Findings. The results allow us to forecast the dust release intensity recreated combines for manganese ore mining, and to estimate the expected dust content in the workplace of the cutter-loader operator for the purpose of development of sanitary-and-hygienic measures of improvement of working conditions of miners in stopes of manganese mines. The studies showed that physical-mechanical properties of manganese ore affect the dust release intensity in manganese mines.

Originality. We have determined the intensity of dust settling during operation of wing and auger types of deflecting organs of a combine when mining manganese ore of different kinds. Dependence of the dust release intensity on the output of a combine was found out.

Practical value. The method allows us to determine the dust release intensity in airless end taking into account the type of work tool of the combine and the kind of ore. Study of miners working conditions on dust factor in mine tunnels at manganese dressing plants has been carried out. The results contribute to further development of means and measures of dust release control in stopes of manganese mines
