Automation research performance impact of drilling equipment construction pace openings

Abstract:
Purpose. By developing a software, to investigate the influence of the following factors on the speed of construction of extended horizontal workings: performance quotient of an explosive, charge ratio, perimeter blasting technique implementation.
Methodology. The research employed the comprehensive approach that includes the synthesis and analysis of literary sources, theoretical studies based on the methods of mathematical modeling, programming in the Java language.
Findings. The software has been developed for the research. The organizational and technological parameters of the extended horizontal workings drivage in various conditions were studied. The nature of change of pace of mining affected by varying values of the performance quotient of explosives, charge ratio, structure of rocks, and perimeter blasting technique implementation for excavations of various-shape sections.
Originality. It was proved that, in general, the dependence of the rate of penetration on the performance quotient of an explosive, charge ratio are characterized by linear functions. The dependence of placement options of periphery holes and near-periphery holes on the coefficient of rock strength for conditions with f = 10–20. The distance between the hole and the line of least resistance depending on the coefficient of rock strength is described by the logarithmic and exponential functions respectively.
The article shows the results of studies of the perimeter blasting technique effect on the development rate under different conditions: ROP becomes 1.1–1.24 times lower when using the perimeter blasting technique, and the higher is f the more dramatically the development rate falls, which can be explained by the reduced performance of the drilling equipment.
Practical value. A program for calculation of organizational and technological parameters of underground development considering various factors that affect the drilling-and-blasting operations has been created. This may allow us to automate the processes of construction of mines at large depths.
